George Gershwin | Of Thee I Sing Overture
Samuel Barber | Violin Concerto, op. 14
Aaron Copland | Symphony No. 3

American Icons centers on Aaron Copland’s Symphony No. 3, one of the most important works in the American orchestral repertoire. Bold and expansive, the symphony captures the sound of twentieth-century America through broad melodies, vibrant rhythms, and a strong sense of momentum.

The program also features Gershwin’s lively Of Thee I Sing Overture, whose wit and jazz-influenced energy helped shape an American concert tradition. Barber’s Violin Concerto, performed by guest artist Bella Hristova, moves from lyrical reflection to brilliant intensity.

Together, these works reflect the strength, optimism, and expressive voice that define the American symphonic tradition.
